Shinji joined UntroD Capital Japan, which manages the Real Tech Fund, as an Advisor in 2025, and was appointed Head of Investment in 2026.

Prior to joining the firm, he began his career at Nippon Life Insurance Company before engaging in strategy consulting and business development at the Boston Consulting Group and Dream Incubator. In 2012, he joined the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (later INCJ, Ltd.), where he served as Managing Director of the Venture Growth Investment Group, leading investments in numerous pioneering companies—including ASTROSCALE, WHILL, SmartDrive, Elephantech, Material Concept, and SCIVAX—and contributing to their growth as an outside director. From 2021, he served as Executive Officer and Co-Head of the group, completing the exits of all of his approximately 70 startup investments. He was ranked No. 1 in Forbes Japan’s “”Most Influential Venture Capitalists in Japan”” ranking (2025 edition).
