Singapore, February 26th, 2025 – UntroD Capital Asia (“UntroD”), a leading deep-tech venture capital fund originated from Tokyo, recently marked its third anniversary of its Singapore office by hosting a celebration event. The gathering brought together a diverse range of stakeholders from the deep tech startup ecosystem—including entrepreneurs, investors and corporate partners to celebrate UntroD’s milestones and explore future collaborative opportunities.

UntroD’s journey with Southeast Asia began in May 2020 with the launch of its first Global Fund in Japan, targeting early-stage deep-tech opportunities outside its home market. On 16 February 2022, UntroD established a wholly owned subsidiary in Singapore and opened a local office, strengthening its ties with Southeast Asia’s dynamic startup ecosystem. As of today, UntroD Capital Asia has invested in 16 global portfolio companies outside of Japan. Building on the progress made and the unmet needs observed in the region, UntroD launched its Global Fund II in 2024, continuing its mission to support founders developing cutting-edge solutions. UntroD remains firmly focused on fostering corporate partnerships that address pressing social and environmental challenges through technology and innovation.

On its third anniversary, UntroD Capital Asia announced the appointment of Henry Tao as Director of its global fund franchise. Since joining the firm in 2023 as a Principal, Henry has played a pivotal role in identifying new investment opportunities and driving value creation across the portfolio. In his new capacity, he will continue to advance UntroD’s mission of supporting purpose-driven founders and expanding the firm’s impact.

Prior to UntroD, Henry focused on climate tech investments across global markets. He began his career at Bayer AG’s global headquarter in Germany and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was also part of the Harvard Climate Leaders Program.
