UntroD Capital Japan and Leave a Nest Enter Comprehensive Partnership Agreement
Strengthening the Support System for Discovering and Nurturing Deep Tech Startups in Japan
UntroD Capital Japan Co., Ltd. (formerly Real Tech Holdings Co., Ltd.; President: Akihiko Nagata; hereafter “UntroD”) and Leave a Nest Co., Ltd. (Presidents: Shuichiro Takahashi and Kiyoshi Inoue; hereafter “Leave a Nest”) have entered a comprehensive partnership agreement (hereafter “the Partnership”) to strengthen the support system for discovering and nurturing deep tech startups in Japan.
Since 2015, UntroD has been investing in and nurturing deep tech startups through the “Real Tech Fund,” which manages over 30 billion yen. By forming a comprehensive partnership with Leave a Nest, which operates the “Tech Planter” deep tech ecosystem, one of the largest in Asia, and the “Super Interdisciplinary Conference,” which fosters new research themes that humanity should tackle, we aim to build a consistent support system for deep tech startups across Japan. This system will span from discovering technological seeds, to founding support, to lead investments and nurturing at the seed and early stages.
Initiatives Under the Partnership:
- Establish investment and nurturing schemes tailored to the technology-rich regions of Japan through Tech Planter and Regional Tech Planter.
- Develop new mechanisms to discover and nurture entrepreneurs within universities through the Leave a Nest Research Grant.
- Accelerate the social implementation of technology through collaboration between startups and medium-sized, small, and large companies via the Super Interdisciplinary Conference and the National Knowledge Manufacturing Conference.
- Promote the expansion of domestic startups into Southeast Asia through TECH PLANTER ASEAN.

ディープテック黎明期の2014年より、日本及び東南アジアで開始したディープテックベンチャーの発掘・育成エコシステム。「未解決の課題“ディープイシュー“を科学技術の集合体“ディープテック“で解決する」をコンセプトに、ディープ・エコ・マリン・アグリ・フード・バイオ・ライフテックの7領域で展開しています。サイエンスブリッジコミュニケーターであるリバネスと、ディープテックベンチャーや大手・中堅企業、金融機関等のパートナーとともに、地球貢献に資する新しいビジネスを生み出すことを目指します。

・地域の大学等研究機関の研究成果により地域に新産業の創出を目指す「地域テックプランター」
日本の地域からディープテックベンチャーが生まれ続ける基盤をつくり、新たな地域産業を創出することを目指して、2016年に熊本県から開始しました。現在は12地域へと広がり、地域の大学から発掘した研究者やディープテックベンチャーが、シーズ段階からメガベンチャーへと成長するプロセスを、地域中核企業・大学・金融機関及び県外も含めた大手企業等と共に支援し、ベンチャーと地域の双方が発展する仕組みづくりを行っています。

・東南アジア6か国においてディープテックベンチャーを発掘・育成するエコシステム「TECH PLANTER ASEAN」
国内での活動と並行し、2018年以来東南アジア6カ国で「TECH PLANTER ASEAN」を展開。シンガポール、マレーシア、フィリピン、タイ、ベトナム、インドネシアの6カ国にて実施しています。毎年8月に行われ、各国の優勝チーム等が集まるTECH PLANTER ASEAN Asia Finalに合わせてリアルテックファンドの投資先スタートアップを現地に連れて行き、現地のスタートアップやパートナー企業との連携を後押しすることで、日本のスタートアップの海外展開を後押しします。

・異分野・異業種が垣根を超えて新たな知識を生み出す「超異分野学会」
研究者、大企業、町工場、ベンチャーといった分野や業種の違いにとらわれず、議論を通じて互いの持っている知識や技術を融合させ、人類が向き合うべき新たな研究テーマや課題を捉え、共に研究を推進するためのプラットフォーム。これまでにない研究テーマや課題解決のアプローチを創出し、垣根を超えて最先端の研究開発を仕掛ける場です。

・中堅・中小企業とベンチャー企業とで分野や業種を超えて知識を組み合わせ新たな知識をつくりだす「 全国知識製造業会議」
人類が蓄積している知識や発見・発明を組み合わせて、未解決の課題を解決するための技術・事業・サービス・製品を生み出し、課題の現場に実装する一連の営みを「知識製造業」と位置付け、日本の中堅企業・中小企業を「知識製造業」へと転換することを目指すプラットフォーム。中堅企業・中小企業とディープテックベンチャーの共創・協業を促進することで、双方の成長に寄与することを目指します。

・独創的な研究を遂行する若手研究者を助成する研究助成制度「リバネス研究費」
自らの研究に情熱を燃やし、独創的な研究を遂行する若手研究者（学生・ポスドク・大学研究機関のスタッフ等）を助成する民間設置型の研究助成制度。若手研究者の自由な発想と行動を促進すべく、研究費の使用用途に対する制限を設けず、採択者の希望に応じて自由に活用できるしくみを構築しています。民間企業と連携し、研究テーマの公募や賞の設置等を行います。

Real Tech Fund Award in Leave a Nest Research Grant:
本賞は、大学の研究者の中で、「世界を変えたい、未来を変えたい」という想いを持つ研究者を発掘し、研究成果を活用した創業を目指す研究に対して助成とともに創業に向けた伴走支援を提供するものです。
